The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The time of people's reckoning has drawn near, and yet they turn aside in heedlessness. 1 no Remembrance from their Lord comes to them lately renewed, but they listen to it yet playing, 2 diverted their hearts. The evildoers whisper one to another, 'Is this aught but a mortal like to yourselves? What, will you take to sorcery with your eyes open?' 3 He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." 5 There did not believe before them any town which We destroyed, will they then believe? 6 The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- 7 We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. 8 Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. 9 And assuredly We have sent down unto you a Book wherein is admonition for you; will ye not then reflect? 10
