Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Alif Lam Mim. 1 These are verses of the Book of Wisdom 2 a guidance and a mercy to those who do good, 3 Who are constant in devotion, pay the zakat, and are certain of the Hereafter. 4 These are on a guidance from their Lord, and these are they who are successful: 5 And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Quran) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire). 6 And when Our revelations are recited unto him he turneth away in pride as if he heard them not, as if there were a deafness in his ears. So give him tidings of a painful doom. 7 Lo! those who believe and do good works, for them are the gardens of delight, 8 Wherein they will abide. It is a promise of Allah in truth. He is the Mighty, the Wise. 9 He created the heavens without any pillars visible to you and He placed mountains in the earth as pegs lest it should turn topsy turvy with you, and He dispersed all kinds of animals over the earth, and sent down water from the sky causing all kinds of excellent plants to grow on it. 10 Such is the Creation of Allah: now show Me what is there that others besides Him have created: nay, but the Transgressors are in manifest error. 11
