Say, [O Muhammad], "My Lord, if You should show me that which they are promised, 93 Then do not, O Lord, put me among the sinners." 94 And most surely We are well able to make you see what We threaten them with. 95 Repel thou the evil with that which is fairer. We Ourselves know very well that they describe. 96 and say, "My Lord, I seek refuge with You from the prompting of the devils. 97 "And I seek refuge with Thee O my Lord! lest they should come near me." 98 [AS FOR THOSE who will not believe in the life to come, they go on lying to themselves] until, when death approaches any of them, he prays: "O my Sustainer! Let me return, let me return [to life,] 99 that I should do righteousness in that I forsook' No! It is only a word which he will speak. Behind them there shall stand a barrier till the Day that they shall be resurrected. 100 And when the Horn is blown, on that Day their ties of kindred shall be no more, nor will they ask each other. 101 If the side of ones good deeds weighs heavier on a scale, he will have everlasting happiness, 102 but those whose scales are light shall forfeit their souls and live in Gehenna (Hell) for ever. 103 The Fire will sear their faces, and they therein will have taut smiles. 104 (We shall say): 'Were My verses not recited to you, and did you not belie them' 105 They will answer, "Lord, misfortune overcame us and we became an erring people. 106 Our Lord! Take us out of this. Then if we revert (to evil-doing) we shall indeed be wrongdoers." 107 He shall say: Go away into it and speak not to Me; 108 There was a section among My creatures that said: 'O Lord, we believe. Forgive us and have mercy upon us, for You are the best of the merciful.' 109 But you took them for a laughingstock, so much so that they made you forget My Remembrance while you used to laugh at them! 110 [But,] behold, today I have rewarded them for their patience in adversity: verily, it is they, they who have achieved a triumph!" 111 He (Allah) will say: "What number of years did you stay on earth?" 112 They will say: we tarried a day or part of a day; ask those who keep count. 113 [Whereupon] He will say: "You have spent there but a short while: had you but known [how short it was to be]! 114 What! did you then think that We had created you in vain and that you shall not be returned to Us? 115 Then, exalted be God, the true King, there is no deity except Him, the Lord of the Glorious Throne. 116 Whoever worships another god apart from God, for which he holds no proof, will have to account for it before his Lord. Verily the unbelievers will not prosper. 117 And say: 'My Lord, forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of the merciful' 118
