The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
