The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
