Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 And not known my account! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
