Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In high empyrean 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
