Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 A warning for people -- 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 Of evil-doers: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
