The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a mighty Day. 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a written book, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
