The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
