Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
