The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
