The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
