The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
