And a sign unto them is the dead land. We quicken it and thereout We bring forth grain, so that thereof they eat. 33 And We have placed in it gardens of dates and grapes, and We have made springs of water in it. 34 That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful? 35 All glory to Him who created pairs of everything that grows from the earth, and out of themselves, and other things they do not know. 36 And a sign to them is the night: We draw forth from it the day, then lo! they are in the dark; 37 And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. 38 We have appointed stages for the moon till it returns in the shape of a dry old branch of palm-tree. 39 It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. 40 Another Sign for them is that We carried all their offspring in the laden vessel 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto, so on them they ride. 42 and [that,] if such be Our will, We may cause them to drown, with none to respond to their cry for help: and [then] they cannot be saved, 43 It is only by Our mercy that they are granted provision for a time. 44 When it is said to them: 'Have fear of that which is before you and behind you in order that you find mercy' 45 And there comes not to them a communication of the communications of their Lord but they turn aside from it. 46 And when it is said to them: "Spend of that with which Allah has provided you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Shall we feed those whom, if Allah willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error." 47 And they say: "When will this promise come to pass, if what you say is true?" 48 [And they are unaware that] nothing awaits them beyond a single blast [of God's punishment,] which will overtake them while they are still arguing - [against resurrection]: 49 Then they will be unable to make a will, nor shall they return to their kinsmen. 50
