The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 It is a written book, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
