The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows). 1 By those (angels) who drive the clouds in a good way. 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 that your Lord is the only Lord. 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them – and the Lord of the sun’s rising points. 5 Lo! We have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets; 6 Protecting them against every wayward devil, 7 [So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side, 8 Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty, 9 Except him who snatches off but once, then there follows him a brightly shining flame. 10 So ask them (that is, human beings): “Were they harder to create than the objects We created?” We created them from sticky clay. 11 But you wonder, while they mock, 12 And when they are warned they pay no heed. 13 And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery, 14 And they say: Lo! this is mere magic; 15 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised (again)? 16 And our forefathers? 17 Say: Aye! and you shall be abject. 18 So that is just a single jolt, thereupon they will begin staring. 19 and they will say: 'Woe for us. This is the Day of Recompense' 20 (A voice will say,) "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!" 21
