The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And couches raised up. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
