The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
