The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 The roof raised high, 5 and the sea that is full 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
