The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
