Jonah too was one of the messengers. 139 When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden, 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy. 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish until the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more. 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?" 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie. 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 Will ye not then be admonished? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 “Then bring forth your Book, if you are truthful!” 157 And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 Except one who is (destined) to burn in Hell. 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, 165 And we are they who exalt (Allah)' 166 And indeed they used to say: 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 “We would certainly be the chosen bondmen of Allah.” 169 And yet, [now that this divine writ has been placed before them,] they refuse to acknowledge it as true! In time, however, they will come to know [what it was that they had rejected]: 170 Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us), 171 That they verily would be helped, 172 And that Our host, they verily would be the victors. 173 So turn thou aside from them for a season. 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 When it descends upon their courtyards, evil will be the morning of those forewarned. 177 So turn (away) from them for a while, 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
