The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
