Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
