Man prayeth for evil as he prayeth for good; for man was ever hasty. 11 We have made the day and night each as evidence (of Our existence). The night is invisible and the day is visible so that you may seek favors from your Lord and determine the number of years and mark the passing of time. For everything We have given a detailed explanation. 12 And every man: We have fastened his action round his neck, and We shall bring forth unto him on the Day of Judgment a book proffered him open. 13 Read thine book; sufficeth today thy soul against thee as a reckoner. 14 Whoever came to guidance, has come for his own good; and whoever went astray, has strayed for his own ruin; and no burdened soul will bear another’s burden; and We never punish until We have sent a Noble Messenger. 15 And when We wish to destroy a town, We send Our commandment to the people of it who lead easy lives, but they transgress therein; thus the word proves true against it, so We destroy it with utter destruction. 16 How many generations have We destroyed after Noah? and enough is thy Lord to note and see the sins of His servants. 17 Whoever wishes for the quick-passing (transitory enjoyment of this world), We readily grant him what We will for whom We like. Then, afterwards, We have appointed for him Hell, he will burn therein disgraced and rejected, (far away from Allah's Mercy). 18 "But he who desires the Hereafter, and strives for it with a will, and is a believer, will be favoured for his endeavour. 19 Each We succour, these and those, from thy Lord's gift; and thy Lord's gift is not confined. 20 See how We prefer one above another (in this world) and verily, the Hereafter will be greater in degrees and greater in preference. 21 Set not up with God another god, or thou wilt sit condemned and forsaken. 22
