So they set out, but, when they got into a boat, the man made a hole in it. Moses exclaimed, "Have you made a hole in the boat to drown the people in it? You have indeed done a dreadful thing!" 71 He (Khidr) said: "Did I not tell you, that you would not be able to have patience with me?" 72 [Moses] said, "Do not blame me for what I forgot and do not cover me in my matter with difficulty." 73 and so they departed. Thereafter they met a boy and he killed him. He (Moses) exclaimed: 'What, have you killed a pure soul and it was not done (in retaliation) for a soul? you have done a terrible thing' 74 ۞ He said: Did I not say to you that you will not be able to have patience with me? 75 Musa said: if I ask thee regarding aught after this, company not with me; surely there hath reached to thee from my side an excuse. 76 Then they both proceeded, till, when they came to the people of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused to entertain them. Then they found therein a wall about to collapse and he (Khidr) set it up straight. [Musa (Moses)] said: If you had wished, surely, you could have taken wages for it!" 77 [Al-Khidh r] said, "This is parting between me and you. I will inform you of the interpretation of that about which you could not have patience. 78 "As for that boat, it belonged to some needy people who toiled upon the sea - and I desired to damage it because [I knew that] behind them was a king who is wont to seize every boat by brute force. 79 And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared that he would overburden them by transgression and disbelief. 80 "So we intended that their Lord should change him for them for one better in righteousness and near to mercy. 81 As for that wall, it belonged to two orphan boys of the city, and their treasure was buried under it. Their father was an upright man. So your Lord willed that on reaching the age of maturity they should dig out their treasure as a favour from their Lord. So, I did not do that of my own accord. This is the explanation of things you could not bear with patience." 82
