And remember Ibrahim in the Book; he was very truthful, a Herald of the Hidden (a Prophet). 41 Recall what time he said unto his father: O my father! wherefore worshippest thou that which heareth not and seeth not, nor availeth thee at all? 42 Father, a knowledge that has not reached you has come to me. So follow me that I may guide you to a Straight Way. 43 Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful. 44 O my father! I dread lest a chastisement from the Most Gracious befall thee, and then thou wilt become [aware of having been] close unto Satan!" 45 He answered: "Dost thou dislike my gods, O Abraham? Indeed, if thou desist not, I shall most certainly cause thee to be stoned to death! Now begone from me for good!" 46 He said, “Stop it – peace be upon you; I shall seek forgiveness for you from my Lord; indeed He is very kind to me.” 47 Now I will go away from you and that you call upon, other than Allah. I will call on my Lord. Perhaps I shall not be unblessed in calling my Lord' 48 When (Abraham) rejected his people and what they worshipped instead of God, We gave him Isaac and Jacob and made both of them Prophets. 49 and We bestowed upon them [manifold] gifts out of Our grace, and granted them a lofty power to convey the truth [unto others]. 50
