۞ Surely We had bestowed wisdom upon Abraham even earlier, and We knew him well. 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 By Allah, I will certainly outwit your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone' 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 They said, 'Who has. done this with our gods? Surely he is one of the evildoers.' 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 "No," he said. "It was done by that chief of theirs. Ask him in case they can speak." 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 He said, "Do you, instead of God, worship things that can neither harm nor benefit you?" 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lut to the land wherein We had placed Our blessings for the worlds. 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. 73 To Lot, We gave judgment and knowledge and saved him from the village that had been committing corrupt deeds; for they were an evil nation and were debauched. 74 We admitted him to Our Mercy, he was among the righteous. 75
