۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 Abraham asked his father and his people, "What are these statues which you worship?" 52 They said: we found our fathers the worshippers thereof. 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said, "Have you brought us the truth or are you jesting?" 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 [When they saw what had happened,] they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Verily, one of the worst wrongdoers is he!" 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 "No," he said. "It was done by that chief of theirs. Ask him in case they can speak." 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Then they were made to hang down their heads: Certainly you know that they do not speak. 65 He said: 'Would you then worship that, instead of Allah, which can neither help nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
