The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
