۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said: 'Truly, you and your fathers are in clear error' 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said: Nay! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who brought them into existence, and I am of those who bear witness to this: 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) but the biggest of them, that they might turn (and address themselves) to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 59 Some of them said: "We heard a youth called Abraham speak (ill) of them." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness." 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you? 66 Shame on you and on whatever you worship instead of God. Can you not understand?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 We said, 'O fire, be coolness and safety for Abraham!' 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
