The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Blissful are the believers 1 who are humble in their prayers; 2 and from idle talk turn away 3 pay their religious tax 4 and restrain their carnal desires 5 except with their wives, and what their right hands possess -- for then they are free from blame, 6 Those who seek beyond that are transgressors. 7 And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive 8 and who guard their Prayers. 9 These are the real gainers, 10 Who shall inherit Paradise; therein they shall be abiders. 11 We created man from an essence of clay, 12 Then placed him as a drop (of seed) in a safe lodging; 13 We then turned the drop of fluid into a clot of blood, then the clot into a small lump of flesh, then the lump into bones, then covered the bones with flesh; then developed it in a different mould; therefore Most Auspicious is Allah, the Best Creator. 14 Thereafter you are destined to die, 15 and then on the Day of Resurrection you shall certainly be raised up. 16 And assuredly We created above you seven paths, and of the creation We have not been neglectful. 17 And We sent down out of heaven water in measure and lodged it in the earth; and We are able to take it away. 18 Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date-palm and vines; for you therein are fruits many, and thereof ye eat. 19 We have also created for you the tree that grows on Mount Sinai which produces oil and relish for those who use it. 20 There is a lesson for you concerning cattle. We provide you with drink from their bellies and many other benefits. You can consume them as meat. 21 And on them, as well as in ships, ye ride. 22
