And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear authority 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 They called them liars and consequently were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture, that they may be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
