Have you considered he who turns his back, 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 and caused them to be covered with that which He covered them with. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
