And most surely this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel – peace be upon him.) 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 We have thus caused denial of truth to enter into the hearts of the sinners: 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years, 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 And never did We destroy a township, but it had its warners 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 Therefore do not worship another deity along with Allah, for you will be punished. 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 If they do not obey you, tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do." 216 And rely on the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 They incline their ears, and most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
