A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again. 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 God said, "Before long they will be filled with regret." 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 no community can advance or postpone its appointed time, 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest, 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 And said: "Should we believe in two men like yourselves, whose people are our subjects?" 47 So they denied them and were of those destroyed. 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 And [as We exalted Moses, so, too,] We made the son of Mary and his mother a symbol [of Our grace,] and provided for both an abode in a lofty place of lasting restfulness and unsullied springs. 50
