The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
