The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 gardens, and springs. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 140
