The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
