The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
