Lot's nation, belied their Messengers. 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds. 164 Do you, in the world, want to have carnal relations with males 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!" 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 175
