And a sign for them is the dead land. We gave it life, and We brought forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof. 33 And We have placed in it gardens of dates and grapes, and We have made springs of water in it. 34 that they might eat of its fruits and their hands' labour. What, will they not be thankful? 35 Glory be to Him, Who has created all the pairs of that which the earth produces, as well as of their own (human) kind (male and female), and of that which they know not. 36 And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness. 37 And the sun runs its course for its final destination; this is a command of the Almighty, the All Knowing. 38 And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 41 And We made similar vessels for them to ride. 42 And if We will, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout (or helper) for them (to hear their cry for help) nor will they be saved. 43 But (by) mercy from Us and for enjoyment till a time. 44 When they are told, "Fear ye that which is before you and that which will be after you, in order that ye may receive Mercy," (they turn back). 45 Never does any Sign of their Lord come to them, but they turn away from it. 46 When they are told to spend for the cause of God out of what He has provided for them for their sustenance, the disbelievers say to the believers, "Should we feed those whom God has decided to feed? You are in plain error." 47 They say, "When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 [And they are unaware that] nothing awaits them beyond a single blast [of God's punishment,] which will overtake them while they are still arguing - [against resurrection]: 49 Then they will be unable to make a will, nor shall they return to their kinsmen. 50
