The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a fitting requital, 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
