۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
