The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 For a mighty day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
