۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
