At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
