And We sent no prophet unto any township but We did afflict its folk with tribulation and adversity that haply they might grow humble. 94 Then We changed their suffering into prosperity, until they grew and multiplied, and began to say: "Our fathers (too) were touched by suffering and affluence"... Behold! We called them to account of a sudden, while they realised not (their peril). 95 And if the people of the towns had believed and had the Taqwa (piety), certainly, We should have opened for them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they belied (the Messengers). So We took them (with punishment) for what they used to earn (polytheism and crimes, etc.). 96 Do the people of these towns now feel secure against the coming of Our punishment upon them by night while they are asleep? 97 Or, do the people of those towns feel secure that Our punishment will not come to them by daylight while they are at play? 98 Then did they feel secure from the plan of Allah? But no one feels secure from the plan of Allah except the losing people. 99
