۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Are we not then to die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
