Noah had called upon Us (earlier). See, how excellent We were in answering him! 75 We saved him and his people from the great distress, 76 And made his progeny to endure (on this earth); 77 We left mention of him among later generations. 78 'Peace be upon Noah among all the worlds' 79 Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. 80 For he was one of our believing Servants. 81 [and so We saved him and those who followed him] and then We caused the others to drown. 82 ۞ Of his party was also Abraham; 83 When he came to his Lord with a pure heart, 84 and said to his father and his people: “Whom do you worship? 85 "Is it a falsehood- gods other than Allah- that ye desire? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the Worlds?" 87 And he cast a glance at the stars, 88 And he said, "I am indeed sick (at heart)!" 89 So they went away from him, turning back. 90 Then he turned aside to their gods secretly and said: What! do you not eat? 91 What is the matter with you, why do you not speak?” 92 And he turned upon them striking them with the right hand. 93 [But] then the others came towards him hurriedly [and accused him of his deed]. 94 He said, "How can you worship what you yourselves have carved 95 even though God created both you and that which you have made?" 96 They spoke among themselves: “Build him a pyre and then throw him into the furnace.” 97 And they desired a war against him, but We brought them low. 98 And he said: Surely I fly to my lord; He will guide me. 99 (And he prayed:) "O Lord, grant me a righteous son." 100 And We gave him the glad tidings of a very gentle son (Ishmael). 101 And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Insha' Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)." 102 When they both agreed and Abraham had lain down his son on the side of his face (for slaughtering), 103 We called to him, "Abraham, 104 you have fulfilled what you were commanded to do in your dream." Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 105 Verily that! that was a trial manifest. 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty victim. 107 And We left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 108 'Peace be upon Abraham!' 109 That is how We recompense the righteous: 110 He was one of Our believing worshipers. 111 And [in time] We gave him the glad tiding of Isaac, [who, too, would be] a prophet, one of the righteous; 112 and We blessed him and Isaac, and from their offspring are some gooddoers, and others who clearly wronged themselves. 113
